Ruby is red corundum, all other colour varieties of corundum are referred to as sapphire.
Due to its excellent colour, lustre, durability and hardness, rubies are one of the most sought after and valuable of gemstones.
The most desirable ruby colour is so-called "pigeon's blood", a pure red with a hint of blue.
Ruby is the birthstone for July and is also used to celebrate 15th and 40th wedding anniversaries.
All of the mounts are handmade using either British Hallmarked 18ct Gold or 950 Platinum.
