Jewellery Valuations

Welcome to our jewellery valuation service

A proper jewellery valuation certificate is very important for insurance purposes. You should always try to obtain such a certificate when you purchase jewellery. The value stated on the certificate should be based on the full retail price for the piece, should it ever need to be replaced.

Hatton Jewels have their own fully trained valuer, providing professional jewellery valuations for insurance purposes for every item we sell.

Where can I have my jewellery valued?

We provide the same professional jewellery valuation service for pieces you already own. This is a wise step to take for insurance purposes if you do not have a record of the purchase, perhaps because the jewellery has been handed down through the family or your previous valuation is out of date.

What jewellery do we value?

We deal in fine jewellery, vintage and antique jewellery, diamonds, coloured and natural pearls and gemstones. If you are in any doubt about the suitability of your jewellery then please call one of our helpful team on 0800 043 3573.

A complete, professional valuation service

For every jewellery valuation we undertake, you will receive a complete, professional valuation service, including our assessment, a description (highlighting any engravings or unusual markings) and digital image of each item, and a valuation certificate.

Our highly trained staff, including qualified gemmologists, offer a discreet yet friendly service. Your jewellery is always safe and protected when left in our care. We are also members of the British Jewellery Association.

Jewellery valuation for probate

We also carry out jewellery valuations for probate purposes, providing the administrators of an estate with a valuation they can rely on to discharge their responsibilities. In this case, the appropriate valuation will be the current price the piece would realise if sold on the open market.

A fast, fairly priced valuation service

We aim to complete all jewellery valuations within 24 hours of submission. Depending on the number of items submitted, we can often complete the process even more quickly than that. For example, one or two pieces may take two hours to value, three or four pieces may take three hours.

Hatton Jewels charge a single flat fee of £35 for our jewellery valuation service, regardless of the number of pieces submitted, plus 1% of their total value.
