Marquise Cut Diamonds

Marquise cut diamonds are another variation of the traditional brilliant cut round diamond. With an oval shape and elegantly pointed ends, the diamond was given its name by Louis XIV who first commissioned this design after being inspired by the Marquise de Pompadour’s smile.These diamonds seem to work exceptionally well when they are used in combination with smaller stones and Marquise cut diamonds are also flattering to the hand when set in a ring and worn lengthways along the finger due to their elongating effect.Marquise diamonds can be bought from Hatton Jewels as loose diamonds or they can be selected along with your choice of mount.
