Choosing the colour of your diamond ringTuesday, 27 July 2010 When you are shopping for diamond jewellery, whether it’s eternity rings, engagement rings or commitment rings, you will find that there are certain factors you need to pay particular attention to. The four most important things to consider are the four Cs which stand for colour, cut, clarity and carat. The colour is the one that puzzles most people as a lot of the time, you can’t tell the difference between different coloured diamonds simply by looking at them with the naked eye. But, diamonds vary in colour and the value of the diamond is determined by the colour of the diamond. Diamonds that have very little colour are graded as D, E or F. These are quite rare and heavily sought after. Diamonds further up the scale are yellow or brown in tone and this can really affect the value of the diamond. Some people prefer to have a yellow diamond as this can create a really different look to the ring but the majority of people will opt for a clear diamond if their budget allows it. If you can’t afford a clear diamond, then there is the option to choose one slightly further up the scale because the slight colour is not detected by the human eye. |
