A Look Back at the Most Memorable Celebrity Bridal Jewellery
Celebrity weddings are known for their jaw-dropping fashion, lavish venues, and, of course, the unforgettable jewellery. From heirloom tiaras to custom Diamond pieces, these sparkling accessories often steal the spotlight to further set trends all around the world.
Celine Dion’s unforgettable headpiece
It’s impossible to talk about the five-time Grammy Award-winner’s wedding without mentioning the unforgettable headpiece. Celine Dion married Rene Angelil in 1994, wearing a long-sleeve lace ball gown featuring a sweetheart neckline, intricate sequin embroidery, and a dramatic Basque waistline. Her look was completed with a cascading tulle veil, flowing from a tiara encrusted with 20,000 Swarovski crystals. Weighing over six pounds, the tiara had to be sewn into her sleek updo to keep it in place. However, when Celine removed the headpiece at the end of the night, she discovered a severe bruise on her forehead. Celine said in an interview “I had a cut because the pressure was too much,” Dion revealed. “The next day, I woke up, looked in the mirror, and I had the size of an egg in the middle of my forehead… It was so huge it made my eyes go cross-eyed.” Celine was then rushed to the doctor, where she was prescribed antibiotics and spent three weeks recovering from the injury.
Lady Diana's ‘Spencer’ Tiara
With an audience of approximately 750 million viewers worldwide, Princess Diana’s wedding remains the second most-watched royal event in history. Among the many points of fascination was her tiara, it was subject of intense speculation leading up to the ceremony. According to royal tradition, tiaras are reserved exclusively for married women or brides on their wedding day, making this Diana’s first official opportunity to wear one. In a heartfelt nod to her heritage, she chose the Spencer Tiara, a treasured family heirloom owned by her father, the 8th Earl Spencer. The tiara, which features elements from various pieces in the Spencer family’s jewel collection, was extensively redesigned by Garrard in 1937 for Cynthia Spencer, Diana’s grandmother and wife of the 7th Earl Spencer.
Sophia Richie’s Statement Earrings
When it came to wedding jewellery, Sofia embraced simple bridal jewellery to match her highly embellished gown. The custom Chanel dress featured a high neckline and delicate lace detailing, which left little need for further fuss. Instead, she kept it really simple with a par of large statement teardrop earrings. The drop earrings were encrusted with brilliant-cut diamonds, adding a whisper of glamour without overpowering her overall look.
Victoria Beckham’s Lavish Crown Tiara
Tying the knot in an Irish castle on July 4, 1999, Posh and Becks wedding has gone down in history as one of lavishtries. In addition to her custom Vera Wang design, Victoria wore a gold and Diamond crown tiara designed by Slim Barrett on her wedding day. The tiara was commissioned for the wedding and was made from 18-carat yellow gold with large brilliant-cut Diamonds and suspended diamond drops. It was later kept by Barrett and was even exhibited at the Victoria and Albert Museum.
