How To Style A Brooch
Brooches make for a fantastic, stylish jewellery accessory for any outfit. Brooches are as popular as ever these days, with a recent resurgence in celebs like Harry Styles, Zendaya and Bella Hadid wearing new designs and creating different outfit ideas at high-profile events worldwide.
This week we’re talking just precisely how to style a brooch; just wear are the best places to add a brooch to your outfit? We’re also taking a look at some of our favourite brooches we have in our Hatton Jewels boutique, from glamorous 18th-century brooches to incredibly stylish art-deco brooches.
Where to wear a brooch
There is no hard and fast rule for where to wear a brooch, the possibilities are only as endless as your creativity. That said some brooches are specifically designed to be adorned to a cuff or sleeve. Here are some of our favourite options on brooch placement we think to look the part.
In the collar spread
This bowtie piece lends itself perfectly to being placed in the collar spread or band of a shirt. Centre of attention and unlikely to be missed, beautiful jewellery deserves to be seen, and this is one of our favourite ways to dress a shirt to make for a fabulous day in the office, or a serious drinks soiree.
On the shirt sleeve
This slightly less obvious placement is understated and cool. With a mid-length arm jacket, this placement is sure to still be seen just enough, and add some glamour to your day.
On a blazer lapel
Traditional yes, but there’s a reason this is one of the best places to display your beautiful brooch. A simple and elegant way to dress up a work outfit or wear to a formal event, this tried and tested placement works just as well today as it ever did.
On a scarf
Winter is coming, and with all those layers on, how are people going to see your incredibly stylish jewellery? The answer is right here. Wearing a brooch on a scarf is the perfect way to show off your jewellery, and of course, keep you safe from any colds!
On a skirt
A slightly more unique setting for a brooch is on a skirt. If you’re looking for a subtle way to jazz up an outfit but don’t want to display your jewellery for everyone to see, clipping a brooch onto a skirt is a great way to do just that.
On a headband
Add flair and glam to your headband in seconds with this placement of a brooch.
On a jacket sleeve
Another great option for winter. Wearing a brooch on the sleeve of your jacket is a great way to ensure the brooch gets the attention it deserves, and is perfect for those colder evening events.
