Meet the Team- Bethany, Social Media and Jewellery Coordinator
We've lined up an interview with our Social Media & Jewellery Coordinator, Bethany Sims, who's going to tell us some of her experience working here at Hatton Jewels and about her favourite jewellery pieces we get to see through our door, so without further ado, say hello to Bethany!
What is your main role within Hatton Jewels?
As Hatton Jewels’ Marketing and Social Media Coordinator, I am responsible for the presentation of the brand through our website and social media platforms. It is my job to ensure all our pieces are on the website to keep our website up to date and looking good for our customers to easily be able to navigate our site and view our stock. We are always purchasing beautiful pre-owned pieces that need to be added to our website collections and it’s my responsibility to ensure they are photographed, filmed and on the website ready for purchase to get a new lease of life. For our social media platforms, research is crucial, it is important to be up to date on current and future trends and to understand the type of content our audience wants to see and interact with. Along with this a key part of my job is to communicate with our customers about our services and what we have to offer. From helping our customers understand the process of selling their jewellery, to informing them about our bespoke service, no two days are the same.
What is the most interesting thing you have learnt about jewellery so far?
Where do I start, I feel like I learn something new every day. There is so much that goes into a single piece of jewellery and I think that is what makes jewellery so special and such an important part of how we dress ourselves, it’s a way of expressing ourselves as individuals. When I started at Hatton Jewels, I didn’t realise how different each Diamond can be from another, they all have their own history and story which I find really interesting. I love learning about a piece of jewellery, all the Diamond cuts, colour and clarity grading, just to name a few and how each of these make each Diamond unique. It’s so wonderful that there is the perfect fit for everyone, and everyone has their own style that they like.
What is the content creation you most enjoy working on?
As a company we are always trying to inform our customers whilst keeping our content interesting and relevant. I have been creating a lot of educational content and have recently started our #hjknowhow campaign where we put out informative and interactive content in a variety forms. They are about everything from informing our audience of our services such as our IRV jewellery valuation service to information about the company or one of our collections. I am always learning and I want to help our audience to do that same. I also love to create video content for our socials and websites, with video content allowing our customers to really be able to get to know a piece of jewellery from all angles, how it sits on a person and the how the light plays against the different materials. We as a company are always looking at new ways to create interesting and engaging content.
What is my personal style of jewellery?
This is a surprisingly hard question to answer, my choice of jewellery changes depending on the time of year and what I’m currently into at that moment in time. At the moment, I’m a big fan of yellow gold as I just think it’s a warming colour against skin tones and shows off some of the coloured stones that I really like. Emeralds are probably my favourite gemstone closely followed by Diamonds – I mean what girl doesn’t love a Diamond! I’m lucky, as I am one of the first people to see our new stock, so I am always getting a look at our new bespoke pieces and pre-owned pieces. I like our signed pieces such as Cartier and I had my eye on our Pre-Owned Chaumet Rose Gold Liens Séduction Bracelet, however our pre-owned pieces sell quickly so I am always updating my personal wishlist. I also love our ever-evolving earring collection, as I am a big fan of earrings, they are probably my favourite piece of jewellery with our 1.98ct Sapphire & Diamond Drop Earrings are definitely on my wish list!
What are some of your other passions in life?
Being creative is a passion, I like to make my own candles and I also like to experiment with colour, whether that’s my clothes style or my hair.
Keeping active is also important for me, I have enjoyed trampolining and gymnastics and I recently completed a colour run for charity.
It also goes without saying that at Hatton Jewels we are all passionate about dogs and I adore my furry companions at home in the form of our family pets Bella, the Weimaraner, and Daisy, the Beagle-Chow.
