The Most Glam Summer Vacations in Europe
This week on the Hatton Jewels blog, we're taking a bit of a
break from jewellery and sharing something a bit different; our favourite,
fabulous places to visit in the Summer holidays! Even though we've been having
one of the best Summers on record, this is England, and rain can't be too far
away! So when the weather turns, it's good to have a special trip up your
sleeve so you can still bask in the sun, as well as enjoying some wonderful
food and culture.
Corsica
First on the list this year is Corsica, a somewhat unknown French island just two hours from London. The island play host to some of the most picturesque and enchanting villages and towns we've seen, as well as dramatic landscapes inland. Some of the beaches here are simply stunning and look like they belong in the Caribbean.
The island boasts three airports so it is incredibly easy to
get to where you want to go. The south is where you'll find some off the most
beautiful beaches, where the towns along the mid-west coast remain popular,
including the country's glam capital, Ajaccio.
Lake Como
Second the list is one of the most glamorous places
anywhere, Lake Como. For years the exclusive getaway hotspot for Hollywood
A-listers, the enormous lake in the very north of Italy at the foot of the Alps
remains charming to this day. The lake is gigantic, and. Driving around it
would take the best part of the day. In fact, the easiest way to move around is
by ferry, which has multiple crossings a day to different villages dotted around
the lake.
The city of Como at the very foot of the lake is a great
place to base yourself. Home to a beautiful cathedral and chic restaurants and
bars, perfect to take in the beautiful lake scenery. From here you can take the
car and passenger ferry, (or if you're feeling flush a private boat ferry!) to
some of the other towns. Bellagio stands out as one of the must-visit towns. It
is simply beautiful. Cobbled streets and stairs wind their way up the hillside
meandering through shops, bars and restaurants. The lake is also home to a
handful of beaches, and some of the most astounding Italian villas.
Berlin
If you're looking for a real city to explore, look no
further than Berlin. One of the most exciting cities in Europe. There is a
complete abundance of things to do, from taking a dive in a floating pool on
the Spree river at Badeschiff, exploring the expansive Grunewald forest, or
uncovering some of Germany's industrious history at Teufelsberg, an old spy
base long deserted.
Where Berlin really show's it's full array of colours is in its
nightlife. There are 100's of parties happening every night across the city, to
suit all styles and tastes, with some of the best clubs in the world for the
real heavy hitters. The next day can always be spent recovering in one of
Berlin's open spaces. Templehoff park, a once important Nazi airfield has since
been transformed into a beautiful green space, and remains a favourite with
locals and tourists alike.
