The most unusual Engagement Rings
Following on from our popular post on unusual Eternity rings, this week we’re giving Engagement rings the same treatment, and taking a look at some of the most unusual Engagement rings in our vaults and bespoke beautiful designs from some of our most daring customers which we’ve handcrafted here in our Hatton Garden workshop.
What makes this ring unusual is the extra diamonds on the collet, a truly indulgent and beautiful ring with a design not often seen. This elaborate Edwardian style platinum ring has a centre eight claw set with a certified brilliant cut diamond, with a guaranteed minimum carat weight of 1.00ct, and a grading of at least H VS2. The gallery decorated with hearts each grain set with old cut diamonds, with further old cuts set to the profile and shoulders. The mount contains approximately 0.20cts of diamonds.
Usually three stone rings feature a sapphire in the middle and are supported with diamonds either side, but this ring flips the norm on it’s head, and features a brilliant cut diamond in the centre, shouldered with two beautiful sapphires. A single 0.80 carat round brilliant cut diamond graded G colour, VS clarity is set by four claws between a pair of round mixed cut royal blue sapphires with a total carat weight of 0.50ct. The principal diamond measures approximately 5.90mm and each sapphire 3.50mm.
A different take on the well-documented and popular halo style art deco engagement ring, with a unique centre design. This bold and architectural Art Deco style platinum ring features a centre rub-over set with a certified 1.10ct brilliant cut diamond. The central stone flanked by two rub-over set diamond bullets with an outer trim of old cut diamonds amounting to an approximate total carat weight of 0.42ct.
We don’t often see target ring designs (personally we love them and would love to make more), but to see one with rubies is very unusual for an engagement ring, and we think it looks very striking. This art-deco inspired target ring features an old cut diamond to the centre, in a grain setting, surrounded by a border of calibre cut rubies. This ring is handmade in platinum and finished with a milgrain edging and a single diamond set in the shoulders.
If there ever was a statement ring, this oval diamond and old cut diamond engagement ring certainly takes the title. Bold and beautiful, this handmade platinum art-deco inspired ring features a 0.41ct oval cut diamond in a rubover setting to the centre, surrounded by a filligree design, grain set with old cut diamonds. This ring also has delicate millgrain edging to setting to add detail and shoulders are micro-set with further old cut diamonds, bringing the total carat weight to 0.71ct.
Bespoke Asymmetric Engagement Ring
This has to be one of favourite bespoke designs for our customers. A brilliantly bold and different asymmetric engagement ring featuring a brilliant cut diamond and a trillion cut colour-change Alexandrite, a very unusual gemstone but we think it looks fabulous here amongst the smaller shoulder set diamonds. We love making beautiful and unique designs for engagement rings, so if you have a crazy idea, we’d love to hear it!
