This Summer’s jewellery must-haves
Summer is finally upon us (thank goodness!), so we’re taking a look at jewellery trends that are going to dominate this Summer’s wardrobe, and relentlessly adorn your Instagram feed for the next two months. If you want to keep up with the in crowd, follow our top jewellery trends for this Summer!
Colour is most definitely in, which isn’t always the case. Don’t be afraid to experiment with big, bold colours, as well as pastels across all your jewellery pieces, it’s time to embrace the rainbow!
Fine jewellery retailers have already reported a spike in coloured gemstones sales, with the ever-popular trilogy rubies, sapphires and emeralds, gaining the most interest.
Stack your rings
Once a faux pas, today’s best jewellery looks see silvers and golds (both yellow and rose) collide. The trick is to disperse them evenly (one hand silver, the other gold is a big no-no) and ideally have one piece that combines all to tie them together. Make sure the rest of your jewellery, perhaps your earrings, is a combination of both too if you can, for continuity.
Edgy geometric rings look great together, as do silver and turquoise stone chunkier pieces, or dainty pieces embellished with crystals. But together? Visual disaster. Stick to one style so there’s cohesion. Leave wrists bare for maximum impact and opt for just a single piece of neckwear that matches your ring theme in some way.
Body chains
As the summer heats up, so does the jewellery with this years sexiest trend: the body chain. As seen on the likes of Rihanna and Nicole Richie, the body chain is the perfect partner to both your bikini for poolside glamour or a sheer top for an effortlessly feminine evening look.
This style was inspired by Indian culture, where it’s completely normal for women to wear such ornaments on their body, because it boasts self-confidence and femininity.
Mismatched earrings
There’s something confident and trendy about wearing mismatched earrings, perhaps because it is such a move away from the traditional view of earrings needing to match. It’s an easy way to update your collection of earrings and get creative.
Pick a pair of earrings that share a similar theme. They can be radically different from each other, but sharing a common theme ensures that the two sides complement each other. The theme you decide to pick depends on you. Some popular options are sun, moon and stars, sailing, flowers and leaves and geometric shapes.
What’s on the out?
Huge statement earrings are being replaced by multiple piercings, mismatched earrings, and even one 'work ear' and one 'party ear’.
