Unmissable Christmas events in London this year
It’s the most wonderful time of year again, and we’ve been scouring the best events happening this Christmas to get you feeling festive and in the mood for some mulled wine and carols! Here’s what we found, and where we will be heading this year!
Christmas at Kew
Gardens
See the Gardens light up for an unforgettable after-dark festive trail of lights. 22 November 2018 to 5 January 2019. Now in its sixth year, the 2018 winter trail will be bigger than ever before, with over a million twinkling pea-lights and thousands of laser beams. Walk under welcoming arches into a world festooned with seasonal cheer and wander beneath unique tree canopies drenched in Christmas colour.
Christmas Floating Film Festival
St. Katharine Docks
Floating Film Festival is back for Christmas, with a week-long extravaganza
showing top movie favourites that no festive period would be complete without,
including Home Alone, Elf, Love Actually and The Muppets Christmas Carol.
Guests are invited to
snuggle down on bean bags with cosy blankets and enjoy the films with winter
warmers including hot chocolate, mulled wine and a variety of delicious snacks.
Tickets are available
Ice Skating at one of
many magical locations!
Take your pick from
some of these amazing locations that have a pop up ice rink every year.
Somerset House is a long-time favourite, alongside the rink by the National
History Museum, which is magically lit by streams of lights hanging on nearby
trees. You could also head to Hampton Court Palace, or Winter Wonderland
features a large ice rink in the middle of all of the rides and attractions.
London really is spoilt for choice when it comes to ice skating at Christmas,
and you won’t be disappointed whichever you choose!
Hogwarts in the snow!
Winter has arrived at
Hogwarts. Glittering Christmas trees line the Great Hall and a replica festive
feast including flaming Christmas puddings is laid out on the long tables;
while the top section of the hall is transformed for the Yule Ball with snow,
icicles and an orchestra of magical instruments.
You can also tuck
into a 2-course meal in magical surroundings with the return of Dinner in the
Great Hall this Christmas. Enjoy dessert served on Platform 9 and 3/4 and take
an exclusive after-hours tour of the studio, from 10 to 12 December. What is
Christmas without Harry Potter?
Snow White at the
London Palladium
Join in the Christmas
fun with traditional pantomime Snow White, at the London Palladium.
Produced by the team
behind Olivier award-winning Dick Whittington, this classic tale of good and
evil is retold with the help of a stellar cast, including Dawn French, Julian
Clary, Paul Zerdin and Nigel Havers.
Expect plenty of
magic, music and special effects in this hilarious take on the festive classic,
which is on for a limited 5-week run.
We hope this list has
given you some great ideas for the Christmas season! Just let us know where you
are heading this year! We can’t wait for the Christmas magic to pass over our
Hatton Garden Jewellers, wrap into our scarfs and put our feet up by the fire
after a fun day in London!
