Why this January is the best month to sell your Jewellery

    07/09/2018

January is always the perfect time for a clearout and to sell your jewellery, and with 2020 in our rear view mirror and a more positive looking 2021 in sight, now is the perfect time to have a clearout of any old jewellery and ready for a decluttered and happier 2021.

During such difficult and unprecedented times, it’s more important than ever to do all that we can to protect and nurture our state of mind. We know that it’s not always easy to prioritise self-care but with more and more of us working from home, one of the best ways we can do so is to ensure that our living space is calm and peaceful.

What’s more, with gold prices at a record high and gemstones such as fine emeralds, rubies, sapphires and natural pearls becoming even more popular at auction, why not have a look in your jewellery box and see if there’s anything special hidden beneath that old string of pearls?

When it comes to the diamond retail industry, seasonality is an important factor as there are a few specific times throughout the year when consumers are looking to buy diamond jewellery. Some months are busier than others for jewellers. Knowing the seasonality of diamond jewellery sales helps in obtaining the best price. There are three main events in the calendar that drive jewellery sales: the Christmas season, Valentine’s Day, and Mother’s Day, so January is the perfect month to sell your jewellery ready for Mother’s Day and Valentine's Day.

Naturally, in these times, the health and safety of customers is of the highest priority, and Hatton Jewels has measures in place to make valuation safe. You can carry out initial jewellery valuations from the safety of your home by sending images by email to info@hattonjewels.com

    Selling Diamonds

Diamond qualities like carats, shape, cut grade, colour, and clarity, will affect the value of your stone. The most noticeable thing about a diamond is its size and for most people, bigger is always better. For decades now, the most wanted size has remained around 1.00ct+.

Having the cut shape of diamond that is in demand also helps. The most popular diamond shape is by far the round brilliant cut, but for us here at Hatton Jewels, large Emerald Cut Diamonds and Old Cut Diamonds are also really popular, so something we are always looking to purchase. With our wide network of buyers all around the world, at Hatton Jewels we will be sure to find the best price for your piece.

    Selling Fine Gemstones

Some gemstones, such as fine Columbian Emeralds, Kashmir Sapphires and Burma Rubies can be more difficult to sell and achieve the best price, as they require the buyer to truly understand the significance and value of such gems, something Hatton Jewels specialises in and fully appreciates the true market value of such rare items.
