Winter Weddings, Everything You Need to Know!
We love a winter wedding at Hatton Jewels, and with winter just around the corner, we’ve put together a few ideas for hosting your perfect day, with all the touches necessary to ensure you and your guests have nothing but warm and magical memories!
Stock the blanket basket!
Wedding days have
unavoidable downtime, those photo shoots take some time to get right! Make sure
your guests stay cosy by providing a few blanket baskets dotted around
your venue, so guests can easily warm up. These can easily be chosen to match your colour theme for the day, ensuring photos still look
great!
Keep the menu hearty...
Keep spirits high and
your loved ones warm by serving hot canapes and drinks such as soup and bread, hot chocolate and mulled wine, which will not only go down a treat in the colder
weather, but will also add to theme of a rustic, homely winter wedding.
Be prepared for rain
(or snow)!
Unfortunately, winter
comes with the high chance of the heavens opening, whether it is rain or snow! A practical and fun idea could be to provide brollies, scarves, hats and wellies
so guests can stay dry, adding further to the seasonal theme. Besides the snow
will add character and authenticity to the day!
Go bright with colours!
To offset the often muted colours of a British winter, adorn yours and the bridesmaid’s dresses by playing with rich hues, adding embellishments and accessories that reflect the light and add some wintery charm. Of course, those diamond wedding rings will help!
Faux fur looks great!
To add to theme of
the day, why not add some cosy attire, perhaps some faux fur wraps for you and your bridesmaids, make sure they co-ordinate! You’ll probably be outdoors for
some photographs, and these timeless wraps will not only keep you warm but also
add a snug and chic aesthetic!
Let the light shine on...
The days draw in more
quickly in the winter, so you’ll have less hours of light than a summertime
wedding. This makes lighting an essential part of the winter wedding survival
guide. Even if you’ll be embracing the atmospheric glow, ensure there are
plenty of candles, and since it’s so close to Christmas you can experiment with
festive décor, such as fairy lights in trees, or wreaths. This is also a great
time of year to include fireworks, sparklers or even a bonfire. They’re
something fun for your guests to enjoy and can make for some beautiful and
creative photos. For an even more beautiful night sky ceremony a popular idea
is experimenting with lanterns, or letting Sky lanterns
into the sky; a truly memorable and
romantic sight and activity to share with all of your guests.
Christmas is
extra-magical!
Christmas is the
season for spending time with the ones you love, therefore planning your big
day around the Christmas period can be that little bit more romantic. With the
festive season in full swing, spirits will be high and your relaxed and excited
guests will create a merry atmosphere! We’d say a few weeks before Christmas is
perfect, with the festive cheer and even the chance of snow falling, it’s
guaranteed to make your day absolutely perfect!
